Common Tasks
Refreshing the Cache

PixelBot auto-refreshes every 24 hours. To force it - WordPress: PixelBot → Cache → Refresh Now. Standalone: delete the cache file from your includes folder via FTP. Rebuilds on the next visitor question.

Updating Your System Prompt

Controls your bot's tone, personality and scope. WordPress: PixelBot → Prompts in admin. Standalone: edit the config section at the top of the main PixelBot file.

Updating Your API Key

Your key is stored above your web root in the config file - edit via FTP or hosting panel. Never inside public_html. If expired, generate a new one free at Google AI Studio.

Changing Related Links

Related links appear at the bottom of every response. WordPress: PixelBot → Source Links. Standalone: update the links array in the sources section of the main file.

Bot Name & Icon

Both set in the config section of the main PixelBot file. Replace the icon image at the same path or update the path. Takes effect immediately - no cache clear needed.

Sitemap & Indexing

PixelBot only knows what your sitemap lists. Keep it updated as you add pages - the cache auto-refreshes every 24hrs. Sitemap guide →

Common Errors
Connection Error

Usually a missing or expired API key. Check the config file is above your public folder, your key is active in Google AI Studio and your server can reach the Gemini API. Still broken? Contact us.

Wrong or Outdated Answers

Almost always cache or sitemap. Force a cache refresh, check your sitemap includes the right pages and review your system prompt - it may be restricting PixelBot too tightly. See full FAQ.

Is PixelBot supported after installation?
If something isn't working as a result of our installation, we'll fix it - that's just fair. Beyond that, PixelBot runs itself. Optional ongoing maintenance packages are available if you want us to keep it updated as your site evolves.

What if it breaks years down the line?
Technology moves on. PixelBot works brilliantly today and is built on solid foundations - but we can't offer free indefinite support. If something breaks years later due to platform changes outside our control, we'd treat that as new work. See our Terms of Service for full details.

Does PixelBot slow my site down?
No. It's a single PHP include with no external JS dependencies. The widget only activates when a visitor opens it. Content is cached locally so there are no live crawl requests on every page load. Zero impact on Core Web Vitals.

Can my API key be stolen?
No. It's stored in a file above your public_html directory - physically unreachable by any browser. All AI calls are server-side so the key never appears in network requests. As locked down as a PHP implementation can be.
